Looking for a career in the gas utility sector with a competitive salary?
Lomax Training are proud to be working in partnership with local college and employers to provide exciting employment apprenticeship opportunities to new trainees on our Network Construction Operations programme (NCO1).
All NCO1 trainees are guaranteed an interview with an employer, with up to 16 apprenticeships available based in North of Tyne, Tees Valley and the Yorkshire area, at the end of the course. Those who go on to the apprenticeship will complete the Gas Network Operative Standard qualification and receive a competitive salary. Those who are not selected for apprenticeships will still be awarded the Network Construction Operations Qualification Level 1 (NCO1), providing them with the necessary skills to work in the gas industry, and will have the opportunity to continue training with the NCO2 course.
Applicants applying must hold a full driving license and be aged 19+. Applicants looking to work in the south of the region would ideally be based in the Harrogate or Ripon area.

NCO1 Course Details
Who is eligible for this course?
This qualification is the best starting place for operatives, with little or no experience, wanting to start a career in the gas utility sector. It provides the necessary skills to assist with the mains and service laying of PE pipe on the gas network.
What does the course involve?
The NCO1 Level 1 Certificate covers the following areas:
• Knowledge of gas distribution and use of polyethylene pipe. • Assist with the location and avoidance of underground structures. • Assist with the excavation and reinstatement of holes and trenches. • Assist with the installation and jointing of PE pipe. • Assist with signing, lighting and guarding of works.
Assessment Type?
Operatives are assessed by written papers and practical assessment, carried out in Lomax Training's centres.
