International Women’s Day (IWD) has been recognised for over a century, shining a light on both the achievements of women and the barriers that still exist in workplaces across the world. Since 1911, IWD has belonged to everyone who cares about gender equality, celebrating progress, raising awareness of discrimination, and encouraging meaningful action toward parity. At Lomax, this message strongly resonates with our mission. As a training provider within traditionally male-dominated sectors such as gas, utilities and electrical, we recognise both the responsibility and the opportunity to support greater female representation within the energy industry. By creating accessible training pathways and championing inclusive learning environments, we are proud to play our part in building a more diverse and future-
ready workforce.
Why Gender Equality Matters in Energy & Utilities

The gas, utilities and electrical sectors have traditionally been male dominated, yet the future of the industry depends on attracting talent from all backgrounds. With an ageing workforce and increasing demand for skilled engineers, improving gender representation is not simply about equality, it is about strengthening the sustainability and resilience of the sector. In competence-led industries, success is defined by skill, safety and professionalism. Broadening access ensures that opportunity is based on ability, not outdated perceptions.
Women at Lomax
Here at Lomax we’re proud to recognise and celebrate the incredible women who contribute to our workplace and the industries we support. Their dedication, knowledge and hard work make a real difference every day. Behind every great company is an even greater team, and here at Lomax we’re fortunate to have some truly dedicated and passionate women. From Sharon and Tracey, whose outstanding management keeps everything running smoothly, to Paula and Charlotte in the office who are the backbone in our day-to-day operations, and Allison and Linda who ensure our facilities are always maintained to a high standard - each of them play a vital role in making Lomax what it is. We wouldn’t be the training provider we are today without the commitment and energy these individuals bring every day.
Learner spotlights

This year, we’re proud to recognise the women who have completed training with Lomax across a range of courses and qualifications. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds, often choosing the sector for its job security, hands-on nature, and strong career opportunities. Throughout their training, they’ve shown dedication, determination, and a real commitment to building their futures. Their journeys highlight the growing role women are playing across the energy and construction industries, and we’re proud to support them every step of the way. Industry Opportunity. The UK energy sector is evolving rapidly, with strong demand across gas engineering, electrical installation, utilities and renewables. These are stable, skilled careers offering long-term progression and even routes into self-employment or business ownership.
Our Commitment
Lomax remains committed to inclusive, supportive training environments that focus on competence and progression. We continue to advocate for accessible pathways into skilled trades and sustainable energy careers.
